Has anyone ever told you to try journaling, that it will help you with your stress? Or have you seen a TikTok of a girl standing in front of her mirror and saying positive affirmations to herself? What if I told you that journaling and positive affirmations could be very beneficial to your mental and physical health!

Benefits of Journaling
- Achieve goals: By writing down your specific goals, you are more likely to achieve them. It helps hold you accountable.
- Track progress and growth: Making journaling a regular habit, you can look back on earlier entries to check your development.
- Gain self-confidence: Looking back and seeing your growth can increase self-confidence because you realize just how far you have come.
- Improve writing and communication skills: By writing every day in your journal, your writing will improve. Also, journaling to convey your thoughts and ideas will help improve your communication abilities.
- Reduce stress and anxiety: Writing down all the negative thoughts and emotions can help relieve them from your head.
- Find inspiration: You can use your journaling time to brainstorm or let your imagination run wild and then write it all down, so you don’t forget it.
- Strengthen memory: According to the Journal of Experimental Psychology, writing down your ideas can boost your working memory. This is why writing anything down signals that you want to remember it to your brain.
Benefits of Daily Affirmations
- Reduced negative thoughts: Positive affirmations break the negative thought patterns that run through your head. Doing daily positive affirmations can help you prevent more negative reviews from forming as you are more aware. It’s another tool to cope and combat a negative mindset.
- Increased happiness: Affirmations help you recognize the things in your life that impede you from being happy, allowing you to surround yourself with the things you desire.
- Keeping the small things in perspective: We frequently take the small things for granted. Positive affirmations help you recall how important even the most minor details are. For example, if you’re healthy, you may not appreciate it. Still, by affirming “I am healthy,” you may focus on and enjoy it.
- Better cardiovascular health. Harvard researchers have found in a 2012 study that participants who showed more optimism and pleasant feelings had a lower risk of cardiovascular disease and stroke. Mental health and physical health are partially linked. Optimistic participants were more likely to exercise, consume a healthy diet, get enough sleep, and other healthy habits.
Journaling has some amazing benefits that can greatly improve your mental health as well as physical health. Positive affirmations can also boost your self-confidence and improve both mental and physical health. By incorporating both of them into your regular routine they can greatly improve your life! So go on and give it a try and see if it is something that resonates with you and helps.
